Pork Ordering Information

Note: We are sold out of pork for the 2011 season. The below is for educational purposes only.

Imagine succulent, pasture raised pork fresh from the farm. Now you can enjoy pork just like that in your own home! We are now taking reservations for fall (hopefully in October) delivery of pork. Pork is sold by the half or whole, and goes quickly. You must preorder now!

Naturally raised to taste better!

How will my pig be raised? Over the summer, your pig will be raised on clean pasture and wooded forest where they are free to roam about as they please. These pigs get lots of fresh air and a bundle of TLC. They do not get, nor do they need, any drugs, growth stimulants, or steroids. We will use only natural, old-fashioned methods to ensure that your meat will be unsurpassed in taste and tenderness.

What quantities are offered: We offer pork in increments of one half.

What must I do to get this delicious Pork? First, you must get your reservation to us and submit your deposit.

A deposit of $50 per half  is required at the time you place your order.

What can I expect? Pork is sold in increments of one half. From this half, you can expect to get approximately 80 to 125 pounds of freezer meat per half.  Your half will be cut to your specifications (fear not – you will be guided through the process). You can expect about half of your order to be in roasts, chops, shoulders, etc., and the other half in sausage and bacon. The sausage will be seasoned (no MSG) to your specifications. We can also offer unseasoned sausage.

What will be my final cost? You will be charged $2.95 per pound (2011 prices) based on the hanging weight of the carcass plus the cost of processing (about $70 per half). Based on these numbers, you will pay between $350 and $450 per half.

Pick up: You will pick up your pork order here at our farm.

Deadline: We are a small farm and have a very limited number of pigs we raise each year. All the pigs we have for sale are here on the farm now. Once the number we have is sold, there will be no more until next year. The deadline is the minute we sell the last pig.

Frequently asked questions:

Why do you only sell pork by the half?
One of the things we must do is to limit those activities that distract us from raising the best pork possible. In order to sell our pork by the cut, we would have to operate a store. Retail sales are a completely different activity from raising animals. When you step back and look at this from an analytical point-of-view, you do not want the farmer raising your meats to be distracted from doing what is necessary to produce the absolute very best? Anything short of the best is simply not acceptable. We are very protective of the amount of time we spend in any activity that will distract us from producing the very best meat available.

Why is your pork more expensive than what is at the store?
The short answer is that it is not. It’s just that industrial, factory raised pork at the store is price at exactly what it is worth! If you buy food based on it's quality, nutritional value and taste – our pork is cheap. However, it goes much deeper than that. One of the reasons conventional food is so cheap is that it is mass produced without any concern as to the quality of the food. The industrial goals is to produce quantity – not quality! Our focus is on quality. Thus, we spend a lot of time working toward this goal. Quality doesn't come cheap. It involves a lot of labor to produce a system that will promote healthy growth in animals. We do not cut corners on anything to achieve this end.

You offered sausage this past spring. Will you do that again?
In the above FAQ we explained why we only sell our pork by the half. The sausage we offered this past spring was to introduce this delicious pork to folks who have been hesitant to give it a try. In all the years we have been offering pork we have only done this a couple other times. This doesn't happen often. Will it happen again? We don't know. If you like this delicious pork, we wouldn't count on it. Order your own now and be assured of what you get.

Why is pork only sold in the fall?
The “natural” course of pig reproduction is to have the piglets in the spring. We like to follow this natural course. Thus, the piglets grow in the early spring and thru the summer. They are generally ready to harvest in the fall using this natural course.

What if I get this pork and do not like it for some reason?
We offer a “you-be-the-judge” 100% money-back guarantee. By-the-way, this guarantee applies to all of our meats!

Will my pork have any nitrates or MSG?
Absolutely not! In fact, no preservatives of any kind are used.
